This conference explores the methodological challenges of studying Islam in West Africa in the face of fragmented postcolonial archives. I will analyse the challenges and opportunities of using a corpus of press articles and Islamic publications to document the history of Muslim communities since independence, while demonstrating the potential contribution of native digital sources.
