Abstract

This volume examines highly qualified immigrants and refugees, including academics, artists, doctors, journalists and other professionals from Syria, Georgia, and the Caucasus region, in Europe and Türkiye. It explores their career paths, professional transitions, and available opportunities, while also analysing the administrative, legal, and social barriers they encounter. The book investigates how they navigate labour market integration, citizenship, and broader participation in society. It further considers the influence of diaspora & migrant communities, transnational solidarity, and political networks on their experiences. The focus is on the agency of immigrants and refugees, highlighting their socio-economic, political contributions to host countries.
