Engaging Africa

Roundtable

In a time of pressing demands for ‘decolonization’, and recurring calls to rethink theorization and conceptualization in our current academic cultures as well as the practice of research and research collaboration, what are the particular contributions that scholars working on and in Africa can make?

The roundtable will address this critical question focusing on the past, the present and the future of what has been termed ‘African Studies’. It brings to the table scholars from different disciplinary backgrounds and intellectual trajectories:

  • Prof. Insa Nolte, University of Birmingham, UK
  • Prof. Olutayo Adesina, University of Ibadan, Nigeria
  • Prof. Abdulkader Tayob, University of Cape Town, South Africa
  • Prof. Robert Launay, Northwestern University, USA

Moderators:

Dr. habil. Abdoulaye Sounaye (ZMO) and Prof. Kai Kresse (Freie Universität Berlin/ZMO)

The lecture will be held in a hybrid format. For participation on site at ZMO no registration is needed. To participate online, please follow this link: https://tinyurl.com/2p8hyyhd
