Dr. Ahmad Moradi

Dr. Ahmad Moradi is an Einstein postdoctoral fellow at the Anthropology Institute, Freie Universität Berlin, and affiliated fellow in the Age and Generation unit at the ZMO. His research explores mobility, revolutionary mobilisation, and body politics in post-revolutionary Iran. In his current project, he focuses on Hazara Afghan refugees, especially those injured in workplaces or battlefields. His upcoming book, "Persuading Iran: The Basij Militias and Local Revolutionary Politics" (2024), examines violence, care, and statecraft in Iran, and the transformation of local care relations by paramilitary state actors. He holds a PhD in Anthropology from the University of Manchester and has completed a postdoc at École des Hautes Études en Sciences Sociales, Paris. Additionally, his involvement in creative ethnography has resulted in a curated volume on border-crossing and several exhibitions in Tehran, Budapest, and Amsterdam.
