Current research:

Giorgi Ghvinjilia is an invited research fellow at Leibniz-Zentrum Moderner Orient (ZMO) from May 2026 till December 2026, where he is working on a research project examining the political subjectivity of Georgian Muslims between 1917 and 1921, during the turmoil of the Russian Revolution and the establishment of the Georgian Democratic Republic. His research focuses on political identity, hybridity, Muslim political communities, collective violence, and post-imperial transformation in the South Caucasus. His current project continues his earlier work on the formation of Georgian Muslim identity during the 1905 Revolution.
