Environmental (Un)Knowing: Exploring the nexus of epistemic and environmental injustice

Organised by Nikolaos Olma

This series of five lectures will bring together scholars working on historical and contemporary environmental issues in the Global South, who will examine processes of knowing, unknowing, and ignorance in relation to environmental degradation associated with natural resource extraction, industrialisation, urban warfare and destruction, and nuclear weapons testing. The lectures will interrogate the techniques and technologies by which environmental pollution and its effects on the individual and the social body become known and unknown, voiced and silenced, manifested and repressed, thus shedding light onto epistemic uncertainty and injustice and highlighting how epistemic and environmental injustice are interlinked.
