Modern Arab Intellectual Thought
In this unit Sonja Hegasy continues her research on contemporary Arab thought: This concerns the longterm occupation with the Moroccan philosopher Mohammed Abed al-Jabri. She has been active in introducing his work in Germany (see most recently »Der Text liest den Leser.« Apropos Mohammed Abed Al-Jabri, 1935–2010. In: polylog). Lately, it also includes research on other Moroccan and Arab intellectuals, like Abdellatif Laâbi, Middle Eastern philosophy's take on the modernization of Islam as well as Arab positions on memory, violence and reconciliation.
