Research Topic
My current research investigates theological innovations emerging from the Christian/Muslim missionary encounter, broadly defined, in the Arab world. Facing challenges limiting outward expansion, does Arab Christianity expand “internally,” via theological and spiritual resources in dialogue with Islam? And how does Arabic—the language of the Qur’an—lend a certain distinction to Arab Christianity in its liturgical use? My previous research, still ongoing, was a study of difference in the Arab world, particularly Palestine, through long-term fieldwork with Romani families in the region.
